Kay’s Corner: The Build Continues

As we are about to close the year, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to everyone who has contributed over the past two years to laying the foundation for something truly extraordinary here at Bay FC. Yes, we have been tested on the pitch last season, but the past two years have also inspired us with brilliance. We have taken bold steps as a new club — establishing our identity, setting the foundations during the expansion phase, and showing the world what Bay FC stands for: ambition, togetherness, and courage, both on and off the pitch. The focus and ambition are now to get the club to the next stage of growth.
With the players being off and enjoying some well-deserved time away from the club, there is a lot of hard work going on behind the scenes to get ready for the 2026 season. The first tangible milestone on this journey was no doubt the signing of our new coach duo, Emma Coates (Head Coach) and Gemma Davies (Assistant Coach). It was a truly special moment to welcome them here in the Bay with the Golden Gate Bridge and Treasure Island, our new home, in the background.
Throughout the journey to identify our next head coach and what the key credentials for the role were, we were looking for someone who has the experience of developing players and systems and a clearly defined style of play. Emma ticks all these boxes. She has a proven track record of developing players to compete at the highest levels of both the domestic and international game, and on top of that, she is an excellent coach and a great leader of people and culture.
The mission for the team is clear: driving an established and distinctive style of play and a winning mentality to get the best out of our players, which will get our fans and partners super excited and hopefully wanting to come back for more.
Next up is to complete the wider technical team and to provide the new technical staff with a roster that will give us the best possible chance of winning. Not just winning single football matches, but winning championships, over and over again. And that might not happen overnight but we are giving it a good run this season as we are setting and building foundations that will allow us to fly going forward. We want to build something sustainable and special with Bay FC as a benchmark in women’s football — a place where world-class talent is developed, and where passion for the game drives progress on and off the field.
I am excited for all that lies ahead. I hope the whole Bay FC community will carry the same energy, pride, and purpose into 2026 — so we are ready to grow, ready to challenge, and ready to rise.
The build continues…
