Anja van Ginhoven

Director of Global Women's Football Operations at Sixth Street

Anja van Ginhoven’s love for football started from a young age growing up in a family passionate about the sport. Her father played at the highest amateur level and won the national league, and while her mother was not allowed to play for a club at the time, she loved playing with her brothers in the street.

Van Ginhoven became a member of her local football club, Ter Leede. Her career in ‘Red and Yellow’ went from playing in the age group teams, to eventually making her senior debut in the first team at the age of 16, resulting in call-ups for the Dutch Young Lionesses squads Under 17s and Under 19s. At club level, van Ginhoven’s achievements include winning both the Dutch title (2000 and 2001) and the Dutch FA Cup twice (1998 and 2000).

After finishing university with a degree in Media & Events Management and completing an internship at the Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB), van Ginhoven took on a role in KNVB’s Communications department, which marked the start of her career in football off the pitch. She later moved to the Media & Communications team for the Men’s Senior Team, also supporting the General Manager at the time. After six years with the Dutch men’s team, she worked at the Dutch Public Broadcasting Company (NOS), and later the global media company Discovery Inc.

In 2018, former teammate Sarina Wiegman – Head of the Dutch Women’s team at the time – approached van Ginhoven to take on the GM role for the Dutch team. When Wiegman moved to England in 2021, van Ginhoven also made the crossing to the other side of the Channel in the role of England Senior General Manager.

In 2025, after winning the second consecutive European Championships with England, she joined Sixth Street as Director of Global Women’s Football Operations to support the mission of Sixth Street and Bay Collective to grow and develop the women’s game sustainably and in the right way.
